fabric cad
Fabric CAD for material-aware pattern drafting
Fabric CAD work for apparel teams often starts with the pattern document: pieces, materials, cutting quantities, grain direction and clear workshop notes. Textile Pattern CAD keeps those details close to the 2D draft.
What it helps with
Prepare garment pattern pieces with material and cutting information.
Keep fabric notes, quantities and mirror options attached to each piece.
Review scale, measurements and construction marks before cutting.
Export visual and structured files for atelier communication.
Typical workflow
- 1
Create a pattern document for the style or prototype.
- 2
Draw the pattern pieces on the millimeter drafting surface.
- 3
Fill in material, quantity, mirror and workshop notes for each piece.
- 4
Run the workshop checks and export the file when the document is ready.
Current capabilities
Piece-level material and quantity fields.
Grainlines, notches, measurements and construction marks.
Pattern office documents for small collections and prototypes.
SVG, PNG, JSON, CSV, A4 tiled print and technical sheet exports.
Pre-export checklist
Name the pattern and fill in the style code, season and base size.
Check that each piece has fabric, cutting quantity and seam allowance.
Add grainlines, notches and main measurements before workshop handoff.
Export a technical sheet, A4 print plan or clean SVG/PNG file depending on the need.
Positioning
Textile Pattern CAD is fabric CAD for pattern preparation, not a fabric simulation, textile print repeat or color separation application.
Current limits
- Point-delta grading exists as a first version, but it is not a full automatic industrial grading engine yet.
- The DXF export is a workshop verification base and must be validated before industrial use.
- Mobile is designed for reviewing patterns, not full drafting.
- Critical production files still need review by a pattern maker.
Questions
Can Textile Pattern CAD be used as fabric CAD?
Yes, for the pattern side of fabric work: drafting pieces, documenting material information, checking quantities and exporting workshop files.
Does it simulate drape or fabric physics?
No. The current product is focused on 2D pattern drafting, material notes, pieces and exports rather than fabric physics simulation.
Can I export a material list?
Yes. The piece nomenclature can be exported as CSV, including piece information that helps prepare a basic workshop list.
