cad for sewing patterns
CAD for sewing patterns and digital pattern pieces
Digital sewing patterns need more than a drawing. They need scale, piece names, quantities, grain direction, notches, measurements and export formats that remain readable later.
What it helps with
Draft sewing pattern pieces for prototypes or small collections.
Add grainlines and notches to make pieces easier to assemble.
Check measurements before cutting fabric.
Export visual files for review or workshop notes.
Typical workflow
- 1
Open or create a sewing pattern document.
- 2
Draw each piece as an editable path.
- 3
Add construction details and measurement references.
- 4
Save versions and export the pattern when ready.
Current capabilities
Piece-level names, groups and quantities.
Grainline, notch and measurement tools.
A mobile review layout for consulting saved patterns.
PNG and SVG exports for visual review.
Pre-export checklist
Name the pattern and fill in the style code, season and base size.
Check that each piece has fabric, cutting quantity and seam allowance.
Add grainlines, notches and main measurements before workshop handoff.
Export a technical sheet, A4 print plan or clean SVG/PNG file depending on the need.
Positioning
This page is for sewing pattern CAD use cases. Textile Pattern CAD includes an initial point grading workflow, but it is not a marketplace publishing system or full industrial grading suite.
Current limits
- Point-delta grading exists as a first version, but it is not a full automatic industrial grading engine yet.
- The DXF export is a workshop verification base and must be validated before industrial use.
- Mobile is designed for reviewing patterns, not full drafting.
- Critical production files still need review by a pattern maker.
Questions
Can I make sewing patterns online?
You can create and edit digital sewing pattern pieces online, then export visual and structured files for review.
Does it export print-at-home tiled PDFs?
Yes. The pattern office can open an A4 tiled print plan at 1:1 scale, alongside SVG, PNG, JSON, office archives and technical sheets.
Can I inspect patterns on mobile?
Yes. Mobile is designed mainly for consultation, opening saved patterns and exporting files, not for full drafting.
